After 25 years of meetings every second Wednesday of the month, Carlos Hamilton has decided to retire from the Clermont County Board of Health. Mr. Hamilton took his responsibility as a voice of the residents very seriously and he spoke out against changes in state laws as well as proposed local regulations that he felt were not in the best interests of Clermont County. Mr. Hamilton frequently challenged Health District staff to be more efficient and to do more with less. One of his challenges to staff led to the creation of the Septic Gazette which is sent to all homeowners with onsite systems scheduled for routine assessment the following month. His thoughtful questioning of issues and occasional role of devil’s advocate helped keep Health District staff on track and focused on the issues that most concerned our residents. His presence on the Board will be missed but the remaining Board members and all of the staff wish him nothing but the best. Twenty five years of dedicated service and superb leadership has clearly been a huge contribution to the Health District and to Clermont County.
The Clermont County District Advisory Committee selected former Clermont County Health Commissioner, Janet Rickabaugh, to fill Mr. Hamilton’s seat on the Board. Dr. Rickabaugh is currently on the faculty at Wright State University’s Boonshoft School of Medicine, Department of Community Health where she shares her years of experience with aspiring Masters of Public Health students. Now she will bring her many years of public health experience back to her home county as she begins her tenure as a Board of Health member.
At the first meeting of the new Board, Mr. Jim Hansbauer was elected President and Mr. Andy Crum was elected Vice President of the 2008 Board of Health.
