Water Service Lines

Water line trench

Water service line inspection, on both new construction and existing homes converting from private water to public water, continues to increase as new subdivisions and water main extensions are developed in the Clermont County Water System.  Water services may be installed by contractors or homeowners.  Water service line permits may be obtained at Clermont Permit Central Building located at 2275 Bauer Rd.

The following criteria must be met for approval.

  • Water service lines must be 42" deep.
  • An approved material must be used.
  • Water lines must be installed in a trench clean and free of rocks or debris.
  • Water service line must be sleeved through creek bed if applicable.
  • A pressure reducing valve is required if the pressure is at or above 80 psi.
  • A main shutoff valve is required and must be accessible (not in a crawl space).
  • A backflow device is required.
  • Thermal expansion is also needed.
