Who Should Get the Flu Shot

There should be enough vaccine available this year so that anyone who wants to reduce their chances of getting the flu can get vaccinated.  However, the Ohio Department of Health recommends that the following people should be vaccinated for the 2007-08 season:

  • People at high risk for complications from the flu:
    • All Children aged 6 months through 59 months
    • All adults aged 50 years and older
    • People aged 5 - 64 years with chronic health conditions
    • Women who will be pregnant during the influenza season
  • Healthy individuals who can transmit the flu to others at high risk for complications identified above
