9/11 Drill Down to Safety

9/11 Drill Down to Safety

We were fortunate H1N1 wasn’t the disaster we feared but is your family ready for a more severe pandemic, a flood, a wind storm, a tornado, or any other disaster we might face?

The Clemont County General Health District is sending all Clermont County Residents postcards to encourage participation in the 9/11 Dirll Down to Safety.  While millions will pause and reflect on the events of 9/11, the Safe America Foundation invites you to join in helping Americans be prepared to handle emergencies by practicing a ‘drill’ at home or work. Click here to Pledge Now!

Here are some things to help you prepare for your emergency drill...

BE PREPARED www.ready.gov or www.cincinnatiredcross.org
Make a family emergency plan which includes your pets and have basic supplies on hand for a week.  How will you contact family members?  Where would you meet if you couldn’t go home?  Could you take care of yourselves until help arrived?

PRACTICE YOUR PLAN  www.safeamericaprepared.org
Make sure everyone really knows what to do by practicing your plan.  Join others on 9/11/2010 in a Drill Down to Safety.

VOLUNTEER www.tristatemrc.org or www.clermontcitizencorps.org
WE NEED YOUR HELP.  Join with others in Clermont County who have already volunteered to help when needed.  Attend the next Introduction to the Tristate Medical Reserve Corps to learn about opportunities.  A little training NOW could make all the difference.  Contact ckisner@co.clermont.oh.us or 513-735-8412 for upcoming dates.

Did you know that during emergencies when land line and cell phone calls won’t go through TEXT MESSAGES are usually successful.  Include texting in your family emergency plan as one means to contact family members.

  1. Preplan messages to text in case of emergency.
  2. Store emergency messages in your phone for immediate access.  This will save time later.
  3. Set up “distribution lists” on your phone.  Add all numbers for your family so you can alert everyone at once when you send your text.
  4. Need help with texting?  Ask a teen.  They’re pros!
  5. Practice your family texting on 9/11/2010 and join the Drill Down to Safety.
    Pledge to participate at www.safeamericaprepared.org
